Here is an up close photo of the mantle.

The candlesticks on either side of the mantle were a gift from my wonderful sis, Stacy. She found them at a consignment store. Aren't they perfect?
The photo frame I found at a little shop in Franklin, KY. Loved the green color and the design. The front of it reads "Enjoy The Journey" I put a photo of Phil and I inside. This was the first of many road trips together. The glass vase with brown wicker bottom was also purchased at Pier 1.

Another photo of the mantle. See the mirror? That's the subject in question. Should I leave it the gold/brown color or paint it white? All of the trim in the area is painted white and I think it would really pop against the brown walls. Does the current color just blend in to much with the dark brown wall?
The color ties in well with the overhead light fixture. You can see the fixture in the mirrors reflection.
So, What do you think? Paint or no paint?
Have a happy day......

I would paint it white to give it the extra pop. But then again I am a sucker for white paint.
Kris...I am not sure. When setting up a room, I look across from the item and see if there is something there to relate to it. As you look across the room, should the mirror be white or as is? Also, I try to get the accent color (s) on all levels. Am I explaining this well? It's sort of a balance thing with me...when I follow my "rules" and enter the room, it looks peaceful and nothing seems out of place. If I don't get it balanced, I'll stand there and wonder what is wrong.
Another thing I do is use paper for paint, pictures, etc. Like I would tape some scrap paper around the mirror in white and live with it until I know the answer. Usually, it's just a couple of hours, so it doesn't interfere with anyone's line of sight. :-)
I love chocolate walls. I chose that for our Dallas family room. So rich!
Laurie, I'm also a sucker for white paint. I think it would look good. I've also considered a shade of green.
Nancy, Thanks so much for your input. I like your idea of putting paper around it and seeing how that fits the space. I just think it's kind of washed out with the dark walls.
Heck it's only paint. If I don't like it white or green.....or whatever color. I can always paint it the original color??
Your decorating skills are wonderful to bein with. I love the look! And yes i am also a sucker for white and would probably paint it white and distress it to let that copper color show through and then you have the hite that picks up the mantle and the trim but also the underneath color to pick up the tone of the light fixture. Whatever youchoose to do it's going to be beautiful anyway, oh and i LOVE those little birdies!!! SO cute!
What a beautiful mantle. I love the colors.

Oooo, WOW!!! I love it! And I love how dark your walls are! I never imagined I would like a color so dark in a living room but it looks absolutely fantastic!! You're giving me ideas for my living room now... :) LOVE it!
Hi Kris, I like it as is....It goes with your chandy and I think it would look "too" framed with the white. With it being above the mantle "box" which is also white, it would be a box on top of a box....I say leave it. Whatever you decide though, I'm sure you'll love it and that's what's important. It all looks so pretty.
Hi Kris!
I say, without a doubt, paint it white. You are right, it will make it pop from the beautiful brown walls and your little birds and accessories will pop against the white frame. Right now, the little birdies blend in to your frame. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it! :)
I see you signed up to join me on this journey we're on. So glad to have you!
Paint! I think it would look wonderful!
Hope I'm not too late, DONT PAINT IT! its adorable the way it is...hahaha I havn't een in blogworld for a very longtime, so many blogs I followed are no longer blogging;(
Hi Kelleye,
I did paint it a subtle shade of green with some of the gold accents showing through. I need to post a new photo.
I haven't blogged in a very long time. I continue to browse through some of my favorites, but neglect my own. Maybe that will be one of my new year resolutions. Blog more often.
How pretty!! Don't you just love the way a mirror reflecting something else in a room can add such beauty.
Peace, Love & Decorate
