My Decorating Style

Susan @ Love Where You Live asked that her readers define their style by posting a single photo. "Select one photo that represents your own decorating style." (If you haven't done this, do it and let me know. It's fun to see what people select and why. To see Susan's photo click here. You can also check out Susan's home furnishing boutique The Green Plumb.

I commented to Susan that my style is vintage/antique, but not grandmotherly antique. I also like cozy and comfort. I love this kitchen featured at
Country Living They have a gallery of "How To Get The Look" kitchen photos.

This kitchen has several things that just call my name. The chippy painted cabinets with glass paneled doors (perfect for displaying vintage dishes). The extra large farm sink (notice the sink skirt is an old table cloth?)The detailed molding above the sink area used as a shelf to display vintage teapots and another one below just in front of the window, also used for displaying. Butcher block counter tops. Oh' and just look at the lighting.. A crystal chandelier. How sweet is that? The old farm table used as a kitchen center island. Ah uh' LOVING IT!!

Like Susan, I have a few file folders on my pc that have tons of inspirational photos of design ideas and decorating tips. I challenge my readers to show off their style in just a single photo.

Have a happy day

Kris

I do love that sink! Imagine all you could accomplish in that as opposed to the two little ones normally put in homes, including our current one. Ah, that reminds me, I want my one sink back...will wait until next home.

Fabulous! I love this country kitchen. The little shelf is such a nice surprise. I covet that sink! It's all so comfortable, easy, approachable and personable. Like you. (How sweet of you to invite people into my shop -- and blog. Thank you.) Have fun today, -susan

I am not sure there is a photo out there to represent the style I like, because I like so many different styles. Years ago, I would tell people my home was "early attic and general junk". I have a mish mash of things accumulated over the years.
Thanks for stopping by.

Wanted to come by and say welcome. I love your photo. I had that same picture on a blog post not long ago. I have so many photos waiting to be used that once I use one I delete it, but I just had to keep that one. Now, don't be a stranger.

Oh when I grow up I want a huge farm sink! I have my perfect kitchen all laid out. If I'm lucky there will be room left in the house for a bed to sleep in! hehehe
Thanks for sharing!

I could just post the same picture you have as my style. I'm changing my kitchen's colors from country blue and white to pink, aqua, and white so that kitchen fits me to a T. I recently wrote about a piece of molding I saw at Hobby Lobby, didn't buy, and found it at my next stop at a yard sale for only $10. It's similar in size and color of the one in the photo. I can't wait to put it up someplace, but not sure yet if it is going in my kitchen or my bedroom. Thanks for the inspiration! ♥

Since everyone was so helpful in my tassel giveaway, I am offering a 50% discount on tassels to anyone that left a comment for me on tassels. You may want to wait until I get more listed, or not. Choices are on my website. Just email me the ones you want when you make a choice. Website and email links are on my blog. Thanks so much for participating. I didn't plan this, I just couldn't figure out how to choose one person, so I took the first one with lots of ideas, and then offered everyone else a huge discount.

Wow I am impressed, I have been trying to narrow it down to just one photo, but I can't!! Love that kitchen, if that were mine I would never leave the house, ever!!! Take care, Chrissy

Beautiful photo of the kitchen. I like that style and I also love the Nordic/French look with lots of white and just the right shade of gray with dots of red. Old antiques call my name.

Hi Kris,

I've seen that beautiful picture of the vintage kitchen before as well as some of the other rooms in the owners home (featured in Country Living magazine a few years ago) and I have always loved it myself. I could see myself spending many happy hours in that kitchen.
